If you have been trying to avoid gluten and wheat when eating out at restaurants, why not try making your own Keto Cheese sauce? Keto is a diet that can be very beneficial to those who follow, as it causes your metabolism to slow down and help your body absorb nutrients better. What’s even better is you can make your own food (and still keep it low carb!) Here are some easy ways to make your own delicious and nutritious Keto Cheese.
How to Make Keto Cheese Sauce: Start with low carb noodles such as long-grain rice (or other un-boiled pasta), chopped fresh broccoli and drain them. What you want is a thick and creamy sauce that will cover all of your veggies and should be a little more like creamy ranch dressing than anything else. Also add in the desired shredded cheese, optional ham or turkey (if using) and pepper or salt to taste.
How to Make Keto Cheese Sauce: With a wire mesh strainer placed over a bowl, pour in half of a medium sized serving of cooked spaghetti (mine was leftover from a dinner I attended where there wasn’t enough pasta for the entire meal! ), half of a cup of shredded sharp cheddar, half a cup of red or yellow bell pepper, a quarter teaspoon of Italian herb called fennel, and a quarter teaspoon of parsley or garlic. Whisk these ingredients together until they are completely blended, but try to keep the consistency of the sauce as close to creamy cheese as possible, because that is what makes it healthy and low carb for you. Now, place your mixture into your blender. The longer you stir the mixture, the thicker it becomes and the moister it will become as well.
How to Make Low Carb Pepper Jack: This is one of the absolute tastiest sauces I’ve had the pleasure of tasting. For about one-third cup of skim milk (you can use soy, rice, almond, or coconut milk if you’re substituting water), combine a half a cup of chopped canned peaches, approximately three tablespoons of chopped, peeled, seeded, and grated coconut meat, one teaspoon of dried basil (or just leave the chopped stem on the pepper jack), and two teaspoons of lemon juice. Blend until smooth and creamy. You’ll likely need a food processor or a blender to achieve this, so make sure yours has those capabilities. Don’t forget that the fats in coconut oil will curdle when mixed with any other sweetener.
Keto Acidophilus Cheese: Doctors have shown that conjugated linoleic acid, also known as CLA, can reduce cholesterol levels in people with high blood pressure. This acid is also found in some low-fat cheeses, like goat cheese. If you buy the kind that says it’s unsweetened, look for one that’s made with real yogurt instead of hydrogenated or sucrose syrups, as those kind usually have little CLA. As CLA inhibits the production of lipids, it may also lower your risk of heart disease. So you can enjoy this health-promoting cheese by either reducing your total caloric intake or increasing your fresh fruit and vegetable servings.
Keto Apple Cider Vinegar: This is another excellent choice, as this brand uses all-natural apple cider vinegar. For a healthier option, try brands that don’t use the ’red’ type of apple (red apples). You can also substitute the vinegar for honey, molasses, maple syrup, cane sugar, cane Stevia, agave nectar, cane Stevia, or any other type of low-sugar sweetener. In general, this is a great brand for those who are lactose intolerant, as it’s very low in lactose. If you enjoy drinking wine, this is another excellent choice, as it’s a very low-sugar and low-alcohol brand.
